Minnesota has it all for you to enjoy.Then when the cold weather arrives in Minnesota the Snowbirds head down south to warmer climates and Arizona is one of them where the Real Estate deals are abundant currently investors are doing very well.
Welcome, I hope you find this site informational and come back often. Big Sandy and all of it's waterways has over 77 miles of shoreline to navigate either by boat, snowmobile, or 4 wheelers. It's located about 7 miles directly north of McGregor, Minnesota and it is nearly 10,000 acres of water with the different tributaries that come in and out of Big Sandy Lake. (Big Sandy is 6536 acres) The maximum depth is 84 feet in Bill Horn Bay. Although its technical name is Sandy Lake, almost everyone refers to it as Big Sandy lake. It is the largest lake in the McGregor lake's area and has an abundant walleye population, so much that the DNR discontinued stocking Big Sandy.
Real Estate values on Big Sandy lake ranges from the low $200's for a seasonal place to over 2 million for a 12 acre estate, The McGregor lakes area has many different lakes, and a variety of price ranges for all buyers coming to our community. The 2009 Real Estate market in McGregor has been very healthy for buyers and sellers and we have not been affected like most major markets across the United States.
Northern Minnesota values for lake shore and recreation property have not hit the so called bottom, we are moving forward with confidence that the 2009-2010 market will be a a slow year in Real Estate. I was wrong it was a bad year! Foreclosures showed up all around the lakes and currently Big Sandy Lodge and Resort is in Foreclosure and is up for sale a cool 4.5 million and you can have it. The other resort is Big Sandy Lodge and Resort: in Davis bay and it has new townhomes and new cabins/homes for rent all year as well as an 18 room hotel for guests to stay at the Big Sandy Lodge and Resort They are great places to stay, Big Sandy Lodge and Resort is currently in foreclosure, we are hoping that it will reopen in the spring of 2010 under new ownership. Fishing on Big Sandy is awesome! But let me warn you it can be a challenge for the best anglers. There is so much structure and rock piles. This year a 29" walleye came out of the ice and I saw pictures of an 11" sunfish that came through the ice as well. I will be posting pictures on my Blog. I will try to post updates on how the fishing is in the McGregor Lakes Area as often as I can to keep you up to date. I will not disclose where exactly they are biting but will let you know if they are. You will just have to learn the lake like the rest of us.

Winter: Ready to hit the slopes and carve up some fresh powder? Sorry McGregor doesn't have any slopes! But we do have hundreds of miles of the best snowmobile trails in Minnesota. Just ask Explore Minnesota. They came out to Big Sandy Lodge and stayed there while they filmed out in Savanna State Park in 2007. Ice fishing on Big Sandy lake is great. In 2008 I saw an 11" sunfish that came through the ice and several walleye that were over 26" in length. The lake also provides good northern fishing also some of the best white fish fishing in the state. When the snow arrives in the McGregor lake's area and the lake's are frozen and safe to ride we have some really awesome snowmobile riding with hundreds of miles of trails.
Spring: With weather beginning to tease, summer is on it's way. Spring provides a new look to all the lakes and trees in the area. Fishing is prime on Big Sandy lake and the golf course opens up in Mcgregor. We are very excited about the new www.MinnesotaNationalGolfCourse.com Hidden in the Pristine northwoods of Minnesota and named after a 2,000 year-old settlement that lies within its 600-acre expanse. Summer: Waves gently hitting the sandy shores, the soulful call of the loons, and the smell of a evening campfire. Summer activities bring you closer to the outdoors. I find myself all the time telling people "I love my neighborhood" It truly is an awesome place to be any time of the year especially the summer time. Big Sandy has a place on the lake where a lot of people go on weekends it's called the sand bar....people just boat up and beach the boat literally on a sand bar and hangout it's a great place to bring the kids and hangout with people from the lake. You can make lasting lifelong relationships on this lake, I know we have. The 4th of July on Big Sandy lake is by far the best display of fire works I have seen.... Imagine sitting on the waters of Big Sandy lake with the anticipation of a great show and then BOOOOM!! It starts and goes on forever.. it seems. Then when its all over and you look around at how many people showed up to see this awesome display it is amazing. Fall: As the changing hues proclaim surrender to the passage of yet another summer in the McGregor Lakes area, McGregor becomes a vibrant display of color. Fall drives around the lakes and their glistening waters or through Savanna state park. These drives bring you right back to our fine shops and restaurants in the area ready to welcome you. Comfortable weather provides a perfect setting for a scenic boat ride or a walk in the woods with your favorite dog looking for Grouse, or out on Minnesota National Golf Course taking in a day on the links which can be very relaxing.
